We Buy Surplus Control and Instrumentation Cable in Ohio
Control cable, instrumentation cable and PLTC all carry signals rather than main power, and they arrive in small conductor sizes with shields, pairs and numbered conductors that decide how a lot gets sorted. We buy surplus control and instrumentation cable from Ohio businesses in reels, coils and cut lengths.
Three families, three sets of rules
Control cable is a multiconductor assembly used for switching and status circuits, commonly 600 volts with conductors from #18 up to #10, shielded or unshielded. The conductors are small because the current is small; the information is what the cable carries. Instrumentation cable carries low-level analog signals, usually in twisted pairs or triads, with individual and overall shields and drain wires.
PLTC is power-limited tray cable, a 300-volt class cable for power-limited control and instrumentation circuits that is rated for cable tray use. PLTC often carries its own temperature and tray markings, and some constructions add an exposed-run suffix of their own. The three look alike on a shelf and do not behave alike in a circuit, so the jacket print is the only dependable way to tell them apart.
Shields, drains and pair counts
A foil shield with a drain wire handles low-frequency interference. A braided shield covers a wider range and stands up to more flexing. Cable with both is common on instrumentation work, and the drain wire is usually stranded and tinned. Which shield you hold changes how the reel is described and reviewed.
Count the pairs and triads, not just the conductors. A 12-pair instrumentation cable and a 25-conductor control cable read almost the same on a tag until you look closely. Numbered and color-coded conductors, overall jacket material and any armor belong in the description as well.
Send the legend, the count and the footage
Photograph the jacket print along its length, then the reel tag. We want the type designation, the voltage class, the AWG, the pair or conductor count, the shield description and any armor. For cut lengths, say how many pieces and how long each one is.
Then the practical facts: how the cable is packaged, whether the reels are full, and where in Ohio the material is stored. Control and instrumentation cable tends to sit indoors in small quantities spread across several locations, so a list by location saves a second round of questions. Photographs of the print at two or three points along a length settle most questions about a mixed lot.

This form is routed with the category already noted, so the buyer knows what they are looking at before opening the photos.
Full reels, partial reels, coils and cartons are all reviewed. Condition changes the number, not the eligibility.

Control / Instrumentation Cable questions
What is PLTC cable?
PLTC is power-limited tray cable, a 300-volt class cable rated for cable tray use on power-limited control and instrumentation circuits. The designation appears in the jacket print.
Do you review mixed lots with cut lengths?
Mixed lots are reviewed as they are. A list of types, pair counts, lengths and storage locations is more useful than a single combined total.
Does shield type affect whether you will buy a reel?
Shield type is part of the description rather than a barrier. Foil, braid and combination shields are all reviewed, and the print tells us which one it is.
Selling control / instrumentation cable?
Send the wire type, footage, condition and photos of the reels and tags. We review it and come back with pricing and pickup logistics.
